Previous Owners of My House UK

Obtaining details of previous owners of your house, or any house, in the UK is straight forward so long as the house was registered during the period of your search. The fact that the Title Register only shows the current entries of ownership, without showing previous owners, is not a bar to finding details of previous owners through a Land Registry search. It is done by applying for a Prior Edition of the Title Register, using our Prior Copies Search.

Furthermore, previous owner details can be ascertained for dates even prior to first registration of title, by using our Conveyancing Deeds search, which is an optional addition found on our Prior Copies search form.

Land Registry Historical Copies

Obtaining historical copies of the Land Registry Title Register can be carried out online going backwards from today to the date of First Registration. This is the date upon which the property first became registered. Before this date the Land Registry would not be aware of the existence of the property and therefore there would not be a Title Register or Title Plan for the property prior to this date.

Once a property is registered a Title Register and Title Plan are made by the Land Registry and these become the official ownership documents.

Previous Land Ownerships

To obtain details of previous land ownerships from the Land Registry you will need to apply for a Prior Copies Search. You can search back to April 1993 when the Land Registry started digitising their Title Records. If the property first became registered after this date, then that date would be the earliest you can search back to.

PPI Claim on Mortgage

PPI is the common abbreviation for a Payment Protected Insurance policy, which has been sold to you as a condition of granting a loan, credit card or mortgage. The purpose of the insurance policy is to cover the risk of your not being able to make payments for the loan, card or mortgage, e.g. because you become ill, have been involved in an accident, lose your job, or die.

In the past lenders have been found culpable of mis-selling this type of insurance policy to their customers, the policy being useless to them, there being no possibility of their ever being able to make a claim for it.

The purpose of this article is to supply you with the information and documents you need to make a claim in regard to a mis-sold Insurance covering a mortgage.
